This is
another project
of
double stars, this time for binocular observers. The list comes from
the
famous Philip S. Harrrington book:
Touring
the Universe thorough Binoculars.
As oposed to the
rest
of
our group's observing projects, this one is opened all year,
since
it covers all the sky in the Northern Sky (a lot of stars are also
visible
from South latitudes).
You can use any
size of
binoculars
to observe these stars. With a pair of good 10x50 you'll probably be
able
to observe every double in this list, but there are plenty of material
to be observed with 8x32 or even 8x24 instruments. Users of 20x60 or
even
25x100 monsters will also find atractive targets here.

coordinated by Paolo Morini,

Paolo has compiled two important documents:
- Observing reports:
All the observations made by S33 members have been put together in a
single pdf file that
you can download
here (about 900k bytes in length)
Date of last update: April, 1st, 2009.
- Sky maps: All the
data of the binocular doubles with location maps can be downloaded here (about 1.1 Mbytes in
length)
If printed, the two
documents do generate a book about 200 pages in length, and, as far as
we know, it's the most comprehensive resource for observing double
stars in internet.
