5 hours in Paris

It’s usual for people visiting Paris to dedicate a day in visiting Versalles, or, extending the distance, one exhausting day visiting the most famous castles in the Loira Valley. A lateral way of thinking can lead towards a crazy, at least at first sight, idea: what about making a one-day trip by car to Paris while enjoying a week in central France?

The trick is not to get-up too early in the morning. Leaving the hotel in Blois at 7:30 am can put you near Paris at 9:30 am, but not in the Champs-Elysees, but in a terrific traffic-jam in the “peripherique”. It’s better to go first to visit the Chartres Cathedral and then arrive Paris for dinner at about 13:15.

The following 20 pictures were taken on 24th, August, 2006 in a period of time of less than five hours. Enough time to enjoy a lovely, maybe the loveliest city, in black and white.
